As part of the final evaluation of the support project to the Private and Associative Sector of Waste Pre-Collection (FILIPA) in Brazzaville (Congo), carried by the GRET (2014-2019), several videos were produced.
Messrs Philippe Ikongo and Alphonse Ondzouan, two neighbourhood chiefs in the Talangai district, explain the use of household waste to make dikes, in order to protect themselves from chronic floods. Their neighbourhood has come to be nicknamed ‘SimbaPelle’ for ‘Take your Shovel’ because all residents are invited to participate in this collective effort to protect homes, even in the middle of the night.
