The Marseilles health mediation project, CORHESAN, published a report on its actions between 2022 and 2024. Its very positive results enabled a budget renewed for 2025.

Initiated during the COVID-19 pandemic by the European Hospital and Prospective and Cooperation, the CORHESAN project has since been carrying out outreach activities, outside the hospital walls, towards the most fragile and precarious populations in Marseilles’ central districts. Beyond health promotion, the health mediation team offers local services, creating bridges toward both local doctors and hospital services, in order to make our health system more accessible, more transparent and more humane.

From October 2020 to June 2022, the activity focused on issues related to COVID-19: information, guidance, screening and vaccination. The very positive results of these 20 months convinced the PACA Regional Health Agency (ARS) to commit to a new project, “13-en-Santé“, made up of the combined actions of CORHESAN and the association SEPT involved in a similar project, in order to more precisely measure the impact of health mediation in reducing inequalities in access to health.

Thus since July 2022, the CORHESAN project (in Marseilles’ city centre) and the association SEPT (in Marseilles’ northern districts) have been working to improve access to prevention, in particular to organized cancer screenings, vaccination monitoring as well as access to a treating practitioner, paying particular attention to people who are furthest from health services.

This health promotion work, through its holistic approach, enables to meet and support many residents of Marseilles’ most disadvantaged districts on all their health issues. CORHESAN is today publishing a report on the activities of this second phase (2022-2024) and outlines the outlook for 2025.
